Nels Peter Jeppesen

Nels peter Jeppesen is the great grandfather of Steve Jeppsen. Nels Peter Jeppesen served 2 terms as Mantua justice of the peace, 3 terms as a Mantua School Trustee, and was first Mantua, Utah postmaster. He was also a director and secretary of the Mantua Land and Livestock Company. Known as the Mantua Co-op.

The Post Office was inside of the Mantua, Store. The store was located a few feet south of the “old church”. People referred to the store as Meta’s because Meta Jeppsen ran the store for several decades. In the post office section of the store there were mail slots for each home address. Yes, in those days mail was only delivered to the store not to the homes. People would hang-out at the store around the time of the expected mail deliveries.
