Music in Mantua

The tradition of community music ran deep through Mantua's founding lineages.

The pioneer settlers of Mantua, Utah, were deeply musical in their own right. When the original Danish families (including the Jensens, Jeppsens, Schows, and Hanzens) settled "Little Valley" in 1863, they brought a rich musical heritage with them.

In typical Scandinavian fashion, early Mantua social life relied heavily on local fiddlers, accordion players, and family string ensembles to provide the music for community square dances, step-dancing, and holiday celebrations.
